“American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood’s Grammy victory Sunday underscored the growing impact that the TV talent competition is having on U.S. pop culture.

Australian pop star Kylie Minogue has asked her fans to leave her ex-boyfriend, French actor Olivier Martinez, alone.

After four years, Minogue and Martinez announced their separation earlier this month, saying that they will remain friends.

Since then there has been speculation in tabloid press of Martinez’s alleged infidelity with Hollywood actresses Penelope Cruz and Michelle Rodriguez.

“As for the treatment Olivier has received of late, I can only reiterate that he simply does not deserve the kind of harassment or vitriol to which he has been subjected,” the singer wrote in a statement on her website…

Mum Rosemarie revealed her son had wept on the phone to her about the break-up and explained that although though he still felt for the singer, they’d been fighting recently and had outgrown each other.”We are devastated about this news,” she told London’s Sunday Mirror.

“It is terrible and we hoped they had a future together. Olivier was dreadfully upset.”

Hours after that phone call Martinez was seen with a mystery woman in his vintage Aston Martin heading for actor Salma Hayek’s hillside mansion in Los Angeles.

They dined there with others, including film director Ridley Scott.

An onlooker said Martinez looked “very comfortable and happy, not remotely upset”.

LOS ANGELES: Singer-actress Beyonce, star of the movie musical Dreamgirls, was named this year’s “most desirable woman” in an annual reader survey released by the popular lifestyles website AskMen.com.

The entertainer, sometimes credited by her full name, Beyonce Knowles, jumped from No. 50 last year to the top of AskMen’s list of “fantasy girlfriends” in 2007, as ranked by its readers – a majority of whom are men aged 18 to 34.
